With the closure of Oran Park, Superlap (now known as World Time Attack Challenge) was held at Eastern Creek Raceway this year.

For those unfamiliar with Time Attack (or Time Trial), competitors race against the clock, whoever is able to set the quickest lap time is the winner.

The event has undergone significant change with workshops from the US and Japan bringing their cars over to participate in the challenge. As it turns out, the overseas workshops dominated the Pro Class taking out first, second and third.

The results for the weekend:

1. Sun Auto – Cyber EVO – Japan – 1:30.5870

2. Sierra Sierra – EVO – USA – 1:31.8840

3. Tomei / Cusco – WRX – Japan – 1:31.9010

As I’ve never been to a V8 Supercar race before; when the first ever V8 Supercar race at Olympic Park was held, I just had to go check it out!

I’ve never really been a fan of large family sedans going around a racetrack; but seeing these quickly changed my mind about that!

The sound these cars made was incredible, along with the loud backfire at every gearchange.. BANG! BANG! BANG!

They sounded absolutely crazy!

At some parts of the track the noise would echo off the buildings, and I really had to wear some earplugs if I wanted to have any hearing at all by the end of the day.

The whole atmosphere of the event was awesome.. there were lots of things to see and do with stalls, rides and food lining the area around the track. It was not unlike going to the easter show actually, and if you hadn’t been to Olympic park in a while, you wouldn’t have recognised it at all!

I recently did a shoot of a Lotus Exige.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Lotus Exige, it is essentially a hard top version of the Lotus Elise. Here are a few specs of the Exige:

Powerplant: 1.8L NA - 190hp @ 7800rpm.

Drivetrain: 6 Speed Manual. Rear Drive.

Kerb weight: 2015lb

Acceleration: 0-100kmh - 5.0 seconds.
