January 26th marked the end of the year of the Rat and the beginning of the year of the Ox.

The Chinese zodiac consists of a 12 year cycle, each year represented by an animal.

It is said that those born in the year of the Ox are hard workers, reliable, calm and modest. It is also said that they are patient and can tolerate hardship without complaint.

In Chinese culture, businesses invite members of the local kung fu club to perform a lion dances at their business location. The dance is to bring good luck and fortune for the coming year.
